How to prepare sushi rice:
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Japonica Sushi Rice
- 3 Cups- Water
- 1 Tsp.- Salt
- 1/4 Cup-Sugar
- 1/2 Cup- Rice Vinegar
Method of Preparation
- Wash the rice in cold water. Rinse & drain 1-2 times. Then, soak rice for 20 minutes.
- In a saucepan, add vinegar, sugar and salt. Warm the mixture till the sugar dissolves. Take off the heat & set it aside.
- In a pot, heat 3 cups of water until it boils, add the rice, after first boil lower the flame and cook covered for 9-12 minutes. In-between stir the rice occasionally.
- Once the rice is cooked and sticky, turn off the flame. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
- Pour the mixture of vinegar, salt and sugar and comb it over rice with a fork or knife. Do not over mix as rice will get mushy. Cover the rice & let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Serve while the rice is warm.
